Diesel Drops Back
After jumping sharply two weeks ago, diesel prices retreated back down a similar amount the most recent week.

National Observations
- National diesel prices dropped almost 5 cents/gallon last week to $3.487. That came after a 6-cent/gallon increase the previous week, showing unusual volatility in the market.
- With no real movement in crude oil prices, diesel should stay down. The year-to-date diesel average is now at $3.59, 17 cents lower than the national average of $3.76 in 2024.

Regional Observations
- The Rocky Mountain region saw the largest drop. The 6.7-cent decrease was 1.8 cents more than the previous week's increase.
- The Gulf Coast and West Coast excepting California had similar drops. Fuel dropped 6.5 cents/gallon in both of these areas.
- The East Coast and California had the smallest drops. Both eased a few pennies per gallon.
