National Observations

  • The national average diesel price dropped another 4.5 cents a gallon last week. Prices are down over 13 cents a gallon the last three weeks.
  • The steep drop now puts the current price below the year-to-date average. The last time this happened was mid-June during the last period of easing prices.

Regional Observations

  • The standout region last week was Rocky Mountain. Diesel prices dropped a whopping 7.3 cents a gallon in the mountain states.
  • All other regions saw decreases of between 4.2 and 4.6 cents a gallon. The broadness of the decreases indicates a widening weakness in wholesale diesel prices across all markets.
