Workstep Acquires WorkHound

Pioneering driver communications platform is absorbed by larger workplace engagement firm

Workstep Acquires WorkHound

Driver engagement platform WorkHound has been acquired by San Francisco-based WorkStep, a larger firm in the frontline worker communication and engagement space.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. WorkHound had previously raised over $13 million from venture firms including Level Equity. WorkStep has raised over $50 million to date from firms including New Road Capital Partners and First Mark Capital.

Originally founded in Des Moines, IA in 2015 by Max Farrell and Andrew Kirpalani, WorkHound later moved to Chattanooga, TN. The company pioneered the use of anonymous driver feedback to help fleet managers identify and address driver concerns and thereby reduce driver turnover.

The deal came about after it became clear to Farrell that "80% of the things our customers were asking for would come to life if WorkHound and WorkStep joined forces," he stated on a LinkedIn post.

One of WorkHound's current customers Covenant Logistics is also a WorkStep customer for their warehouse staff.
